By Air: The nearest airport is Jharsuguda (130 km, ~2 hrs by taxi) with flights from Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Raipur and Lucknow. Next is Ranchi Airport (200 km, ~4 hrs by road), which has multiple daily flights from major cities and direct trains to Rourkela (3-4 hrs). Further, Bhubaneswar Airport (400 km) is another option with good connectivity by train or road (8–9 hrs).
By Train: Rourkela is a major railway station (code: ROU) on the Howrah–Mumbai main line, well connected to most of the cities of the country. NIT Rourkela is 7 km from the station (15–20 min by auto or cab).
By Road: Rourkela is connected by highways to Ranchi, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Bhubaneswar. Taxis and buses are available from all nearby cities.
